Leaders of the Technology era

According to Bernard Bass he believes “leadership to be conceived as the focus of group processes, as a matter of personality, as a matter of inducing compliance, as the exercise of influence, as particular behaviors, as a form of persuasion, as a power relation, as an instrument to achieve goals, as an effort of interaction, as a differentiated role, as initiation of structure, and as many combinations of those definitions.”(Wren, 1995,38)

There have been many leaders that affected society, and the world. For example, Leaders like Paul Allen, Steve Ballmer, Jeff Bezos, Vinton Cerf, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs just to name a few had a major impact on telecommunication industry. Some of these leaders even impact each other in some type of way. They saw a vision and they followed it. I believe leaders don’t have to have followers to be an effective leader, as long as they have a vision or an inspiring message than they can impact anything or anyone. I believe these leaders to have visionary leadership.
Marshall Sashkin has three major aspects to visionary leadership. “The first consists of constructing a vision, creating an ideal image of the organization and its culture. The second involves defining an organization philosophy that succinctly states that vision and developing programs and polices that put the philosophy into practice within the organization unique context and culture. The third aspect centers on the leaders’ own practices, the specific actions in which leaders engage on a one to one basis in order to create and support their vision.” I believe almost every leader has some type of philosophy they to follow to make them a good leader. All of the leaders I name have success technology companies, and know how and what it takes to become a successful leader. (Wren, 1995, 403)
