Google Search-Real Time Data

Google is getting closer to supplying their searchers with "Real-Time" data, as it happens on the web. They are able to give you information from blogs, news sites, Twitter, and other popular handouts more quickly. In Google's Rea-Time search, main results page will a capsule that automatically store relevant information within a few seconds after it pops in the Web index.

Normally a new search request was the only way to see status updates and other information that previous queries had collected in Google's earlier search. Someone that is requesting information about the new Samsung Flat panel You will see the same links, photos, and videos that pertain to the television, but they will also see tweets, blogs and news stories. It will take Google's centers a few days to get this Real-Time data to show up, but once it does, many people will see more information about what they are interested in.

MiFi

There has been a lot of talk about the whole wireless and wireless technology era. Europe has had the MiFi technology since June, and now it has made its way to America. This is going to be a great step toward wireless independence.

For those of you who are not familiar with the MiFi device, it allows you to wirelessly access the Internet from virtually anywhere with any WiFi-enabled device. It allows connectivity for up to 5 devices simultaneously.

I feel this is going to be great for everyone that wants to connected wirelessly everywhere. You are able to take your device anywhere, and can get internet access anywhere. I do not know the specs of exactly when it works, because I would say that you could be driving in a car, and get the interent while on the road. I do not know if the device has to be stationary to have a sufficient connectivity. This will also be great for phones that allow WiFi connectivity. Just in case the phone's network is running slow or down, the user will still be able to be connected wirelessly to get e-mail and have interent access. I would love to have a device like this.

Informaiton Renaissance

The Information Renaissance is the birth of the Internet and communication with everyone all over the world. The internet has made it possible for everyone to be able to communicate with each other, learn more about their lives. It has made it easier to get stuff done, by allowing people to share documents, use e-mail to send messages, and paved the way to Web 2.0 systems that increase our ability to check up on each other.

Web 2.0
~Facebook and Myspace has allowed for families to be able to keep in touch and see how their family members have been doing. These website have increase communication greatly, and helps for people to share their thoughts and pictures with other people, almost instantly. We do not have to download anything to view these items, because the website allows for use to have almost instant access to pictures and status updates. They even allow for you to chat with friends and family.

PDA and Smartphone
~Smartphones and PDAs have bought communication to another level. These devices allow for us to stay into contact 24/7. I feel I cannot be without my Blackberry. I am always reachable and in the loop of what is going on. I can respond to e-mail instantly without having to wait to be around a computer, and have internet access, then load the computer, and wait for my e-mail to load, all I have to do is select reply on by Blackberry, and I can send messages instantly. I feel that it would be very difficult to be in the business world without a smartphone, because you would not be able to get to get back to people in real time, and this could be very bad for business deals or projects.

I feel that we have become so Dependant on our wireless devices, and always being able to communicate and knowing what is going on. We are in a society that has to be communicated in some way, to something or someone.

Improving Personal Wireless Network

There are a lot of times when I am at home, and I see that my wireless signal is low or gets disconnected in certain areas in my home. There are some ways for someone to be able make their wireless network work better.

Position your wireless router in a central location
~If your wireless router is place somewhere on the side of your home, then you many not be getting the best signal possible, because all of the waves are just in that portion of the house, and they are getting cut off by the walls. It would be better to put your router in the center of your house, so that the wireless signal can reach all areas of the room. (tech.msn.com)

10 Tips For Improving Your Wireless Network (Image courtesy of Microsoft).gif

Move Routers off the floor and away from walls and metal objects
~Metal, walls and floors interfere with the signal from the wireless device. The closer your router is to these obstructions, the more the interference you will have between your computer and wireless divide. your connection will be much weaker in these areas. (tech.msn.com)

Replace Router's Antenna
~The antennas that come with your router are designed to be omnidirection, which means they broadcast in all directions around the router. This means that if your router is next to a wall that is on the outside of your home, then much of the routers power will be wasted, because half of the signal is going to be outside the wall.
